Regina - another great post. Love how you see the connection between things and idea in a way that we in our throw away modern culture do not. You should check out Andrew Peterson and the Rabbit Room - they have a whole thing about this as well. Very similar to what you are saying. Andrew is Anglican and he has artists who follow the liturgical seasons and create seasonal art.
This is beautiful. May many mothers and fathers get to read this and bless their children. By the way, I don’t generally write comments on line, bur I want you to know that I so appreciate your thoughts, faith, openness and honesty. May the good Lord continue to bless the work of your mind, hands and heart.
". . . but I do it not only because I love beauty but because I want my children to love the Faith more."
I like the post entire. The little excerpt above seems to catch the heart of it. I love beauty and I love my children. That says a lot - more and more in fact as I reflect on it, and on our Father's love for us.
The portion about combining the statue of Jesus with the flowers and pumpkins from your gardens reminds me of a passing thought of Owen Barfield's. I'd have to thumb around in "Saving the Appearances" to find his words, but the thought was that the statue in the grove is made more numinous by the grove, and vice versa.
Regina, the pictures you include always light up your posts. Here, you've taken that to a new, explicit level.

Hi, Martin -
I found Andrew Peterson and the Rabbit Room. What a lot of interesting stuff! When I have world enough and time, I'll have to get back to it.
I never knew, or did not remember, that the Inklings met in a Rabbit Room. (Didn't have an inkling . . . )

Thanks Arleen! Always so good to hear from you.
