The Living Stations of the Cross/Via Crucis Viviente
A project I've been working on in my local community.
Forgive my Lenten silence: I’ve been working away on several Substack longer posts, but also on a local production of the kind that most draws me: a theatrical devotional, or “theodrama” as I like to call it. Our parish Spanish community has for several years put on the Living Stations of the Cross in our church parking lot, but this year they are moving them to Main Street, and offering them in both Spanish and English. Here’s the prayers for the production.
The Living Stations has a long tradition in Church history, with pageants of this sort ranging from the simple to the elaborate. In modern America, this tradition is largely kept alive by Spanish Catholic communities like those in our own. I have been happy to be a part of bringing this production to the public, and ask for your prayers for its success: both theatrically and spiritually.
And if the Lord inspires you to put on such a production for your community, feel free to use our simple script. Here it is: similar to the above, but with stage directions in both Spanish and English. Blessings on your remaining Lent!
