House Art Journal: Compiling a Camping Breakfast Bar
A Fun Friday post for subscribers only, on creating beauty with housekeeping elements
House Art Journal was the name of my “occasional project” blog for many years. In the days before Instagram took off, I posted pictures from my housekeeping, sharing bits of beauty that struck me throughout the day. It was a precursor to the Culture Recovery Journals, though I didn’t know it at the time.
How can you be an artist when you're a busy mom or dad who doesn't have much time to write novels or paint pictures or compose sonatas? This is the dilemma for the beauty-lover who wants to help build a culture of life but just doesn't have time.
What can be done is to try to make our homes our art, for our families.
Hence “House Art.” When I started this Substack, I thought I’d revive that tradition by posting some additional images on Fun Fridays for paid subscribers. As I said on the masthead of that blog, please don’t imagine that perfection lies outside the margins of these photos. When I share images and thoughts, it's not to erect an ideal standard, but to share what inspires me.
